    Smile MfS a great experiment

I've always thought MfS was a pretty good album, but it seems almost like a demo version of Zoolook. He was starting to experiment with samplers and other new technologies, and this was his first output. Maybe he wasn't quite comfortable with everything yet, but wanted to get this out to show his direction at that point.

Obviously, the WAY it was released added greatly to his rep; it was a guerilla attack on marketing - not to mention his statement on the music industry. This was before the Internet, so getting that kind of buzz was very clever.

My only complaint about the album is that he has reused so many of the songs in later releases, and they've all been BETTER for it. Part of me wishes he had left all the songs there and developed all new material for Zoolook and Rendez-Vous. However, I know how the creative mind works, so I sympathize with the path he took.

I like this album, the opening track being my favourite of all the tracks. I too would like to see Jarre return to these tracks and release a album close to its original source.
"A group of men and woman entered the laboratory one month ago to live in a smell free world. Body odour, sweaty arms pits and smelly feet are to create the energy to survive. A total mystery surrounds this experiment, and it's project code name: B.O and Smell'i "

Music for Supermarkets is an excellent album especially the first track. I think Jean Michel just wanted to experiment with these tracks and make an impact statement to the record companies at the same time by selling the original copy. Most of the tracks he released on other albums with maybe a few changes but I still would like to see it released some day. :

The album must be priceless today. 8((

I was hearding this album. It's so interesting, peculiar. Music for supermarkets has personal, particural climate. Unfortunately, is only one copy this album, wich cost very much many. I think, it's should be for buying in ordinary music shop.

Yeah. MFS is a great album.

The part that is included in Blah Blah Cafe, Diva and RV5 is some of the highlights of the album (IMO). But track 1 is also great.

Part 4 on MFS, is also a little pearl in my ear. The music playing over the talking crowd, shows us what the album was really made for, background music for an art exhibition. Even though it was a exhibition for supermarkets, and I wouldn't expect many visitors to that kind of exhibition, it's still funny to hear part 4.

It's just sad the the whole album has not been released, but we have the music in a bad quality (the radio recordings), and that is what I find most important.

The beginning of side B is one of those hidden treasures in Jarres carreer.

A group of men and women entered the biosphere one month ago, to live in a self-sustained world. Body movements, emotions and sexual activity are to create the energy to survive.
If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire Teo & Tea
