Finn Jarle here. I'm 24 years old, and Norwegian. I first heard JMJ when his Houston concert was aired on Norwegian TV a year or two after it actually took place. Been a fan of his music ever since. Just recently bought the Solidarnosc-DVD, which re-ignited my passion for his music. In terms of what I like best, I seem to constantly disagree with the critics. Revolutions is my favourite, for some odd reason. Love the dark, murky, machine-like sounds. Majestic music that gives me the feeling of more or less impending ehr... if not doom, then something else, but BIG, whatever it might be. A feeling I'm guessing represented the industrial revolution quite well. Vast, smoke-spewing machines - the workings of which must've been a mystery to those not familiar with them.
Don't really know how to best describe his music. Perhaps that's why all the events that seem to do his music justice are all gazillion-dollar spectacles.
Anywho... other music I listen to include Mike Oldfield, Tori Amos, Metallica, Fleetwood Mac and Nine Inch Nails. The list can go on endlessly, but my taste in music is, as indicated, pretty varied. Easiest thingto do is to say what I definitely do not like; opera, happy hardcore, speed metal and a particular genre somewhat limited to the nordic countries - "danseband". Which is dancemusic, seemingly aimed at really #¤%" people - not realizing that the real country music(of which it seems to be derived) scene has so endlessly much more to offer![]()

Real name Mark and born in Barking, East London (London Kid). Have followed JMJ since the early days and was privileged to see the Destination Docklands concert, thankfully on the first evening, which was cold but not as wet as the Sunday performance. I took my mum, girlfriend and best mate along with me and converted them all on the same evening. To this day I have not experienced a concert like it. The atmosphere on the docks was truly amazing and coupled with the search lights and the fireworks this was one of those moments in my life that I shall never forget. Every time I play the CD it makes my hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Trouble is I want a DVD of the concert with full Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. So please MR JMJ, please be kind enough to oblige.
I have purchased all of the Cd's and DVDs and I have to admit that the recent Solidarity concert was spectacular. So many excellent tracks but I have to say that I was moved with the tribute to Pope John Paul II and the choir singing Mury. I still think that Rendez-Vous 4 is one of the best tracks of all time and I like the way it has been improved since the Houston concert.
I'm keeping an eye on the possibility of a concert in Athens later this year. I shall be there if it goes ahead.
Lucky man!
I shall be there if it goes ahead as well. I am currently in the process of getting my family to postpone a week of their vacation to around that time (which isn't -that- hard as they were planning on Greece in September), as well as having all my friends around to watch the Gdansk DVD, and listen to the albums.
This is still too far ahead in time to set anything in stone, as of yet, but if there is confirmation that the Athens event will go ahead, perhaps the good people of this forum should get together. Might be a fun "bonus" to the show. That is, if it actually is going to take place.
hi, it's me again!
