This I have not asked about specifically. But AP has signed contracts with Asgard (JMJ has mentioned his agent Paul Charles a few times, and he's at Asgard) that lets them act on behalf of AP. Read JMJ's blog where he says "many new concerts are coming in from my agent in London" (or words to that effect). The Oslo gig was probably one of those. Wether the contract was made with Asgard or AP, doesnt really matter, as long as AP has asked Asgard to make contracts for them.
While the contract with JMJ was finished in February, the Royksopp contract was not. It was finished only a week before the tickets were announced. So there has not been a significant delay.
Ticket sales have been good so far, but there's enough left for you to wait. No rush. I will let everyone know when the festival gets near selling out.
As far as AP not confirming the concert yet, I now know the specific reason for that, and it's a very trivial reason that has no drama attached to it whatsoever. The promotor simply asked AP to not release the news until he could break the news himself, in order to get maximum media exposure. It was important that no media picked this up until one of the biggest medias had published it first. Even I got shut up for 2 weeks. I was reduced to teasing people about some good news that was going to come. On March 10th I said something about this on the JML.
Now that the news is out, I can explain this.
Other reasons why I think the Oslo project looks likely to go ahead (apart from the announcement):
* Jarre has wanted to play at a festival for a number of years
* Jarre has always played sold-out concerts in Norway
* Jarre was very happy with the Norwegian promotor before and ackowledged that personally to him
* Jarre said before that he wanted to do a few outdoor concerts as part of the tour
* Royksopp is not a local Norwegian band, they're internationally popular for 10 years
* The promotor is an established, reputable and busy company, not a new agency
So there are many things that speak for this event. It falls into a chain of things which are evident, relevant and predicted. By all means, feel free to be careful until you get all the news you need. I'm not being patriotic, I'm just looking at what we know, and what I know. After Easter I'll be able to bring more info, or maybe something pops up somewhere before that.
Thanks for your explanation, but I still think that you can't ignore the fact that ticketsale have started, you can't keep this news away from the fans, confirmed by AP or not. There is always a risk that a concert gets cancelled, no matter what the reason can be.
Isn't it possible for Jarreuk to publish this news on behalf of the concert promotor ?
well, we've sometimes done this before, but usually there's a reason why AP don't want us to put details on the website (some details sometimes not finalised, or in some instances, promotors have gone over the heads of AP, put a concert on sale without JMJs own signature on a contract, and then have had to change the date of the concert due to aspects such as logistics, funding etc etc that should have been arranged beforehand)
problem is, promotors want the tickets sold early, JMJ wants to make sure everything's a-ok and 100% correct before signing the dotted line. So yes, tickets are on sale, AP are aware of this, but AP want to make sure everything is 100% definite on their part before confirming. What if, for funding or logistics reasons, they cant do it for example?
i'd rather wait for them to say yes, everything's ok and we're 100% definite doing it, than them saying, yes we're very much probably 99% doing that concert, but have 1 minor issue that needs to be sorted before 100% doing it...

Sound advice, Robin.
And don't forget, JMJ has cancelled a couple of concerts before:
Mexico, Dusseldorf, PowerStock possibly a few more..
And wasn't Tolerance nearly cancelled if I remember correctly - wasn't that moved from Les Invalides just a few weeks before?
Cheers, Lee

I don't understand something, contract have been arranged in february, and AP still can't confirm it ? And should you always do what AP is telling you ? Sorry to say this, but it seems to me that Jarreuk is following master AP as a slave. There is one official site, which is jeanmicheljarre.com, let AP stick to that with controlling the content. That's all I wanted to say for now.
I ask: did jeanmicheljarre.com confirm it ? ... Thought so ...
AP are the ones who have asked SoF to hold off until they are happy - that's their perogative - what's wrong with that? SoF are an official source of information, so they announce when they get the OK from AP - simple.
