it is a little crazy that a major release by a famous artist could have such a glaring technical flaw like this, and the record company don't seem to care.
I mean I did even try to contact EMI but did I get a reply? Did I f***!

Well I sometimes wonder about the level of "checking" done on these releases. Its nothing new. The Destination Docklands VHS was littered with sound sync errors, though this was mainly an editorial issue. Remember the little "light-up" keyboard on top of the main LAG? At the end of Industrial Revolution Part 1, JMJ can be seen playing (ahem...cough) the keys, which quite clearly are meant to be the bridge between parts 1 and 2, but the edit is out by a good second and a half! Same with Paris La Defence, during Souvenir of China, the camera pulls upwards over JMJ as he conducts, and the light-up keys which trigger the "camera shutter" effect can be seen illuminating, but without any sound associated! Maybe its something to do with editors being unfamiliar with the music, or there being no vocal track to cue against, but it has been an annoyance. I think the Gdansk DVD was pretty much on cue, and Bejing was ok too.
The thing about Oxygene LIYLR is that a lot of it is in sync, and then it suddenly goes out of sync, or the participants can be seen jumping from Synth to synth in the blink of an eye. So, again, its an editorial problem, and you do wonder if someone sits down and says "Hang on, why is Jean-Michel playing Oxygene VI ahead of the sound?" or "Why is Francis playing the ARP in that frame, and then the Moog in the next?" or "Why is Dominic playing the Mellotron when he was playing the Eminent just seconds ago?".
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe....

I just tend to think "Hang on - why am I paying full price for this stuff when it's saddled with elementary authoring errors 8(( "
Myself, I was impressed by Avatar's 3d. I've never liked the 3D gimmick shows that throw a bunch of crap at the viewer. Real-d gives you depth perception and a view that extends a ways into the theatre, and I grew up loving stage productions, so for me it has a reasonable limit, as though looking onto a stage with the performers. besides the scenes with ash and seeds floating around was good enough for me.Originally Posted by JoeMichelJarre
Here's a question, could the footage from Live in Your Living Room be upgraded to Real-D and played in a 3-D theatre instead?
well if they did that, I they'd get the bloody audio in sync with the picture!!
That was inherent with the "upgrade" part.
Edit: I just watched Live in Your Living Room again, and I didn't notice any sync errors. I have the 3-D edition, but watching the 2D, there simply was no audio sync errors. My copy came from China, though, That might have something to do with it, eh?
Did any of you thought this could not be a live interpretation recorded on the DVD ?
I think the sound was recorded previously when they interpreted the scores without technical issues - since they use old synths, could be some parts of the play list were rearranged to fit...
I also don't care too much, the sound is clear and 3D approach was not good enough for my taste. 3D is not going to be mainstream for many years to come anyway.

Just trying to explain itI still think this is great DVD release except there are some audio sync problems which I can ignore...
People are also purchasing this for the CD included.

Well it is clearly NOT, by any objective technical measure, a "great" DVD release, because the sound is ridiculously out of sync with the picture for half of the main feature!
The music and the performance and the filming are great,
but the DVD authoring and release are faulty and sub-standard.
