sound and picture out of sync on Live In Living Room DVD?

    Hello,
sorry if this has been discussed before,
but on my Jean-Michel Jarre "Oxygene - Live in your Living Room" DVD (the 2D one),
the sound goes quite badly out of sync with the picture by half-way through -
it's particularly obvious in Oxygene Part 4, as the fingers of the guy playing the bassline
are almost 180 degrees out of sync with the audio!

Are all the discs like this? Or did I get one with a pressing error?
(In which case, can I get it replaced?)

Yes LIYLM does indeed suffer from sync problems. It's not a problem with your player.

But I mean it's REALLY bad! Once you notice it, it makes the disk almost unwatchable :0/
    What were EMI thinking?!?

Oo Whoa! That actually explains a lot. I've seen the videos of LIYLR on YouTube and a few seem out of sync. I thought YouTube was just a little funky with some clips.
    My deviantArt account!!!
Fractal art, most inspired and based around Jarre's music, the songs I've heard anyway.
    I fully support;
    - a JMJ concert in the North Pole, Australia, New Zealand and other Southern hemisphere countries!
    - a 'Myst' soundtrack render by JMJ!
The Revelation Tour - The Ages of Myst IV
Oxygène 4 (Aero) - Jean Michel Jarre in Serinia
Aerologie - Jean Michel Jarre in Haven
Equinoxe 3 (Aero) - Jean Michel Jarre in Tomahna
Equinoxe 4 (Aero) - Jean Michel Jarre in Sprie

I wouldnt call it out of sync...here are my thoughts.......all the way through the dvd the cameras at one point show the artists playing the notes etc, but then we are showed delayed scenes from different times and angles, looks like delays from the cam on the mini crane that flys around and from static filming, most probably so that the film crew filming can get out of the way, and then start filming in a different area.

When i first saw this i thought there were sync issues, but as you watch it, you never see any film crew in the pictures. It can be annoying not seeing all the action live.

Also, at xmas i bought a brand new sony full HD 1920x1080P LCD tv. the 3d effect is a total waste of time.
Just a load of double vision. But if you wear the 3d specs while watching the 2d film version, it looks better, ie no double vision and gives it a bit of a strange colour lift.

3d never did work and never will. even when Jaws was in 3d.

No, the sound and picture is just plain out-of-sync for about the second half of the disk -
it is a consistent time off-set, not something that changes shot-by-shot depending on the camera or
little bits of extra footage edited in.
This makes it more likely it is a fault in the DVD-authoring,
as it is unlikely they'd make such a gross error at the editing stage.

Did EMI ever make a statement about this issue?

Not to my meagre knowledge but I have to admit I was a little cheesed off after watching it too, because the sync problem is so obvious some times, particularly during Oxygene VI when JMJ is quite clearly playing ahead of the audio.... One wonders whether any kind of Quality Control was employed by JMJ himself before release?

I hope JMJ's new 3D idea for the forthcoming tour isn't another green/red style attempt because the LIYLR attempt was fairly pointless. Its a bit like a lot of Avatar, fairly pointless. I mean why use 3D if you don't intend to utilise its greatest asset which is to appear to project outside the image? I'm all for the "ALL-IMMERSIVE" experience that Avatar claimed to deploy, but a few arrows whizzing past my head would have made it a better experience. As you can probably tell, I was totally underwhelmed by Avatar....
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe....
