    From "c.geff" , on aerozone forum :

    Angry

Same for me: I got the "penguins return" video and Oxy2 live in Marigny removed by Francis Dreyfus Music too. It's quite strange, as I made both of those video by request from JMJ, with authorization to use the music.

As I understand it, FDM claims the new CD is too close to the original recording. OK. So why ask for removal of Marigny live shows? It seems like a strange witch hunt.

Please list all your censored videos in this thread, I'll transmit to Aero in case they can help. I'll keep you posted.

    Hang in there!

    hi Tom

yes, i completely agree here - from what im aware, only FDM hold the copyright over the original master recordings and dont own any copyright over live performances, therefore the copyright of the live performances (which in turn are different to the original recordings because theyre played live) reside with Jean Michel and Aero Productions..... so, if anyone were to ask for removal of any of those videos, it should be JMJ/Aero Productions directly since copyright of the musical scores lye with Jean Michel...... plus if JMJ/Aero Productions wanted any videos removed they would have asked so themselves

and as you say, you're a friend of Jean Michel's and he asked you personally to do the videos, so it's more stupid on part of FDM's part to go after everyone with videos online from the Paris shows

as you say, all a bit of a witch hunt and just silly and over the top

hope everything manages to settle itself soon though i hope

My first-person video cover of Oxygene II has also been removed from YouTube "due to a copyright claim by FRANCIS DREYFUS MUSIC".

As I have understood things lately with the legal quarrel between Jarre and Dreyfus, Dreyfus ONLY owns the copyright for THE ORIGINAL RECORDING of Oxygene, not the score or intellectual property of Oxygene Part 1-6 itself.

If it had been Jarre or Aero Productions or any spokesperson for them that had removed my video, I would have understood it.

It would still have been silly, as any fan cover video on YouTube is not good enough (sound quality as well as my musical skills) for anyone to listen to it INSTEAD of the album. Actually, I have received several messages from people who DISCOVERED Jarre's music and went on to buy the album after watching my cover videos. Instead of DAMAGING the sales of Oxygene, if anything I have HELPED them.

Just like the "Live in your living room" videos on YouTube was what made me buy the DVD.

It's Jarre's property, and if he would want it removed, I would have removed it without question. But for Dreyfus to claim copyright for this material, I can't understand.

    :P

Just how sure are we that this is really FDM? It could be an impostor playing tricks on us. I have no idea on how YouTube verifies the origin of these Copyright Infringement claims.

And really, why stop at just the Paris concerts? There's all the other videos on youtube aswell (not forgetting also that there are other video sites too)
As much as it does seem silly, it does really seem incredulous!
And as has been pointed out, FDM has no dice on this!
    1) fan videos shot by the fans for the fans for the encouraging of other fans...
    2) Far from superior sound quality on a lot of videos and indifferent picture quality
    3) Live stuff isn't anything to do with FDM as the rights lie with JMJ/Aero prod...

Granted, with the tour coming up, there's going to be a LOT of activity around the video upload circuit - and as the general thing is, when one video is removed, two more (copies) take its place.
It's time though, to stop taking youtube solely for granted and find alternatives - there's hundreds out there...!
Don't limit or restrict yourselves! If this really *is* FDR, then surely other video hosting sites and their users would be affected too... I think if anything, if you have videos hosted elsewhere, it would be prudent to keep a watchful eye out!

Got to admit, studio6 (the divx thing) is pretty darned neat if you havent already been there

    Just had an idea....

I think a dvd of collated clips from the concert(s) could make a dvd that YEAH, ok, the quality isn't going to be outstanding, but with the usual amount of 'clever editing' and appropriate crediting on the artwork/dvd content, it would make one heck of a 'must own' because, not only is it going to be stamped with 'I was here and this is my clip in this' it's also gonna help to boost sales!
It would save a lot of arguements as the collated clips would be given a 'seal of approval' and your submitting it would be seen as that (provided you remember to include your name and send in original unedited material)
It's possibly the *only* way out of this awful situation that some people have found themselves in and I wonder if at some point, it could be mentioned to someone? Just a thought and all that... but as fans, I thought the big ideal would be something like this? a little 'sticking together'? Thoughts please....!
