Thread: Poll for unreleased material

  1. #21
While it is tempting, as a collector, to put my hands on everything Jarre has done, including demos, unreleased sketches, rehearsal tracks etc, I am not sure that would be great fun in the long run. I mean, is it really going to add anything to otherwise great albums and tracks to hear their inferior versions? "Interesting" yes, but perhaps not improving the experience of the finished albums.

And speaking of unreleased live concerts on CD, there are some concerts I'd like to have (expecially Oxygene Tour, 12 Dreams and Okinawa) but will we not be saturated and just get more to complain about when the CDs leave out our fave tracks?

As for videos/DVDs, of course we want the old concerts released on DVD but releasing 12 Dreams will be quite impossible, because how can you (as an artist) live with releasing a DVD from a REHEARSAL? The concert itself will probably not look good due to the fog, which was a shame on an otherwise unique event, even for JMJ's standards.

I am sure there a lots of interesting bonuses that could be released, or doing The Vizitors as an iTunes release, but I am not sure I'd want everything that exists.
    Greetings from Glenn

I think an album with the unreleased tracks from Oxygene will be the reasonable thing to do before the end of this year and before the end of his career.8(( 8))
Is there still Jarre inside you Jean-Michel?

    hello,
for those of you who are interested,12 dreams of the sun was shown live on french channel M6,THE WHOLE OF THE 1ST CONCERT,nothing of the sunrise concert thou, the mixes of the tracks are stunning, but visually it does get boring after abit, that is why the rehearsals would be a great investment.
on other things that SHOULD be released deserted palace should of been released instead of the woeful "les granges brulees"
    just my opinion DEANO

what would be interesting for the fans would be a "best of",live recordings(lets face it,we haven't heard the last of the images, essential, aero compulations),especially if there was a dvd release as well.

    shipyard overture ,,mury from gdansk
the sun,oxy2 and miss moon from 12 dots
    akropolis,,je me souviens from acropolis
oxy 4,,and calypso2 ,mags 2 from la defense

And a high quality version of the original Magnetic Fields 2 China -81, just as the radio broadcast, but with better quality. 8))

I agree, those China 81 recordings are great. I love the slight imperfections in the performance that give it a real "live" feel, something I thought was missing from recent performances.

I'd love to hear the unreleased parts of Music for Supermarkets mixed down as part of a compilation of unreleased tracks. There's something about MFS Part 6 that really grabs me. I can't explain what it is.

I think the most important question is HOW would you want to release Jarre's rareties. There probably would not be enough to release the complete back catalogue with a 2nd CD each. Therefore I personally would prefer somehting like an Anthology. Some kind of big boxed set that you would not sell as a regular album, but in the corner of the record store with all the other collector's editions.

You'd also have to have unreleased video footage. My favourite concert of the whole lot was Concert for Tolerance .. sadly, it's never seen a DVD release ..

Yes, I would say some kind of "anthology" would be appropriate ..

    I don't mind...

...I am just glad when JMJ's releasing new stuff for us...

I love JMJ's music and there is always an album I will listen to depending on which mood I am .

Would love to listen to unreleased stuff mind you if JMJ would release them via various means but no pressure here.
