Thread: Ideas for Equinoxe Part 9 - 18

    Equinoxe 2

As I got through the first two tracks, I was in two minds that this was purley a remix of the original album, and I was preparing myself to quit the site. I was thinking to myself too that track 2 felt unbalanced in terms of composition. I then just started to hear track 3, and I had a change of heart, this track actually blew me away, and I was left in total awe. If Jarre had put that track together, I would say it would be the best thing he has done since Oxygene 7 to 13, that is how much I had enjoyed it. From there I had to listen to the rest of the album, with growing interest. Despite track 2, I thought that the entire album was beyond believe, and if somebody had said to me that this is Jarres new studio album, I would have believed it.

Are you really Jarre?? pretending to be somebody else, to see what reaction the audience has?? lol.

    Excellent through and through

    Regards

I like it. The first time I heard it I allmost thought that it was Intelligentsia from the Earth Academy label.
Somehow I feel that this isn't very up-to-date. Infact sometimes I think it feels older than Equinoxe itself. Track 1 and 2 really needs some serious restauration.
What I don't understand is why would Jarre offer his valueble time on this insted of making his own music?
This is very good, but just not good enough.

    Equinoxe 2

I like Equinoxe 2 very much. I agree that it's some things are perfectible but it's not a work of a professionnal. But this realisation is admirable because it's really a continuation of Equinoxe, with same spirit. But it's not a simple remix or cover but really new peaces. A lot of fans forget that Jean Michel don't work alone and his CD's are the result of a team of great professionnals. Then it's very difficult to attempt the same quality alone in his home studio. I am persuade that if Jean Michel have take Equinoxe 2, rework some peaces whit Francis & Claude and the author, he buys 100x more than T&T and everybody says than it's the resurrection of Jarre.
Congratulations for Equinoxe 2. It's nice and very big work. PLease send me a contact. I want to have it in very good quality. I hope that that you make other project like this, you are very talentuous. Don't worry with criticism people : it's impossible that everybody like. And often the most virulent, it's people who have never touch a synth.

I second that. First a lossless format like FLAC or APE, then optionally a higher resolution as well (24/96 is something most soundcards should handle).

Just some clarification though Elektronalin, you published:
    - Equinoxe 9-17
    - Equinoxe Two
    - Equinoxe Two "newer"

    ?

What does this have to do with Oxygene?

Anyway, I just had a listen to a few of the tracks, so let me get the "well done" out of the way for putting the effort in. However, I just couldn't help but think what a "wannabe" this album is. It's just so unoriginal and copies Jarre's style far too closely. Would Jarre make such an album if he ever did a sequel to Equinoxe? Not a chance - he has moved on, music has moved on... You, on the other hand, have made an album that sounds, at times, older than what you are attempting to duplicate. Fair play, you did well to make it, but if I want to listen to Jarre, I can put on one of his albums. You'd do a lot better by putting your talents to some music that is from YOU.

I really enjoyed listening to this. Perhaps you should consider modifying the bits that are recognisable from Equinoxe so that you aren't in breach of JMJ's copyright and then you could release it yourself. It might not be 'original' per-se, but it's enjoyable and I'd buy it. I've always loved the style of Equinoxe and Oxygene best and I'd love to hear more musical interpretations of this style even if the critics would slate it for being unoriginal.

    I like it.
Nice tribute, though I prefer the older versions.
Don't try to work on in it to hard , cause you risk to loose your original intentions. In my opinion your latest version get to sound less 70's, I even got a soft Chronologie-feel when listening to it.

And guys, give the man a break. Of course its not genuine Jarre stuff (duh !), but he gives it a nice try, and did some nice sound, filtering and phasing research to get that Equinoxe feel to it.
