Fair Point Graham, my only addendum would be that Td for all their line up changes in the last 20 years have produced nothing new or experimental. I think the album "Lily was Here" from 1988 (I think), sounds exactly like any of their current output!

though I do like the 12 string guitar on Rockoon,......but thats it!
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe....
Concerts Attended: Oxygene World Tour, Wembley Arena 1997
Oxygene Tour, National Concert Hall, Dublin 2008
Oxygene Tour, Royal Albert Hall, London 2008
    In-Doors Tour, SECC, Glasgow 2009
ROLL ON OCTOBER 4TH!! O2 ARENA DUBLIN!!!

I've not heard much of their new stuff to be honest - only "Views from a Red Train" I think it's called.

Were you refering to "Lily on the Beach"? That was from 1989, "The Melrose Years". I do like that particular album a lot.

    Cool Tangerine Dream

The last experimental thing TD did was Tyger. They cannot compare to JMJ, although their merchandising dept is better! See you in Glasgow Joe!

Have you guys listened to Johannes Schmoellings stuff ? See if you can lay your hands on the original version of Zoo Of Tranquility which came out around 1988.

Its when you listen to that do you realise just how much Johannes Schmoelling contributed to Tangerine Dream on Logos, Poland, Tangram, White Eagle..etc

So when he left that was a massive set back for TD... then an argueably even bigger one was when Chris Franke left.

As much as I respect Edgar Froese and his screamingly brilliant guitar solo's, I never thought he was the most innovative member of the group.

Thats a reuinon gig I'd like to see. One of the classic Tangerine Dream line ups !

Am I the only one not particularly impressed by watching Edgar Froese fire off sequences of prerecorded materialm whether in a garden or not? The arguments for "live" JMJ concerts were based mainly on the fact that we wanted to see JMJ play synths and melodies live, not sit behind his Matrisequencer and fire off sequences for an entire concert. Yes, this is interesting for a while (remember the improvising at the satrt of Oxygene XII during the Oxygene tour?) but quite frankly I'd be bored silly after a while if all we got is JMJ sitting behind an Oberheim hitting maybe 2 or 3 notes over and over, because when you break down what Edgara was doing in that vid, he's pressing the "start" button and playing maybe three keys on his synth. WOW, I'm just blown away.....NOT!!!

I must say, that I love TD's early stuff up until early '80's but I just found myself tiring of this ****e very quickly...

Well, "Berlin school" is Berlin school... music based heavily on sequencer patterns will always be impossible to play live unless triggered automatically or via one note pressed on a keyboard... What Tangerine Dream have always been good at is the selection of notes, which thus creates the musical pattern, when doing sequencer music. The music played by Edgar in this clip is no exception.
