Edgard Froese (TD founder) in Concert

Groove (NL) organize each year two EM-festivals the E-Day and E-live at Eindhoven (NL). At the last E-live Francis Rimbert was there. The E-Day 2008 is very special : a concert from Edgard Froese over 2 hours 30 ! Edgard Groese was one of the pionneer of the Electronic Music. It's the first time that he make a solo concert, not with Tangerine Dream. If you are interested, go quickly on http://froese.groove.nl or www.groove.nl for details and to order : only 450 places ! For me it's perhaps the only chance to see this legendary man.

I "tried" to like them but ... am not a fan and maybe even dislike the band, sorry. I was surprised to discover such a famous band to be so strangely unpleasant for my ear.

Yea, that particular sound isn't quite to my liking. However, I'd prefer an album recording of a song from them, I'll chalk it up to bad audio quality. I would myself if I weren't so busy.
    My deviantArt account!!!
Fractal art, most inspired and based around Jarre's music, the songs I've heard anyway.
    I fully support;
    - a JMJ concert in the North Pole, Australia, New Zealand and other Southern hemisphere countries!
    - a 'Myst' soundtrack render by JMJ!
The Revelation Tour - The Ages of Myst IV
Oxygène 4 (Aero) - Jean Michel Jarre in Serinia
Aerologie - Jean Michel Jarre in Haven
Equinoxe 3 (Aero) - Jean Michel Jarre in Tomahna
Equinoxe 4 (Aero) - Jean Michel Jarre in Sprie

I really like some of their work, but TD is not my No1.
After middle of 80s, they have releaseing "no-name" albums, sometimes more albums per year thus i think they faced to "confusion of plenty of albums", making very similar albums to each other.
There is no real TD albums in 90s which would be known in wider audience, while JM did the way in which each of his albums have different styles.
I read on a TD forum that one of the members has lost JM after Equinoxe. 8(( Then what about MF, Zoolook, or even Chronologie.
While TD is making music very similat to each other, JM tryes to do albums with different styles.

Tangerine Dream were at their peak in the 70's up to around 1988. Personally my favourite line up is Froese, Franke, Schmoelling, but the stuff with Pete Baumann is just as good.

If you've not heard these CDs then I'd certainly recommend them.

    Tangram
    Poland
    Logos (Live At The Dominion)
    White Eagle
    Underwater Sunlight
    Tyger
Le Parc (which has the theme tune to the 80's TV programme Streethawk on it).

I've been an obsessive JMJ and TD fan for around 21 years, it woud be very hard to choose between the two. I love the music for different reasons.

I'd have to say tho, that the raw / unpolished nature of some of TD's tracks give them an edge as far as attitude goes. Turn up Cloudburst Flight really loud on a good sound system that can handle the bass and you could be at heavy metal concert ! Such an awesome track that packs so much of a punch.

I got into both types of music at exactly the same time. I think it must be more difficult to be a fan of Jarre for so long and never listened to Tangerine Dream and then listening to their stuff, I can understand why someone would find it difficult on the ears, or simply dismiss this music. However, stick with it, because your musical life will become a lot richer in the long term !
